When Leandre Bouchard talked with us about his new team sponsored by local businesses before the season began [see Leandre Bouchard Launches Own Team], he also said that fellow Alma-region rider Victor Verreault would join him on the squad.

Unfortunately, Verreault's start to the season has been delayed due to scheduled surgery for a cancerous lump - first announced on his Facebook page earlier this week.

The Saint-Félicien athlete fought cancer of the thyroid gland and Hodgkin's lymphoma five years ago before resuming his racing career. According to Bouchard in an interview with Sportcom, a convalescence of a few weeks after the operation scheduled for May should be enough to see Verreault back in action.
